Poseidon Sciences presented a paper entitled Recent advances in the development
and testing of eco-friendly antifouling marine coatings for ships, subsea and aquaculture
structures during the Asia Coatings Congress 2011 on May 18-19, Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam.


Poseidon Sciences project on malaria
control was selected among the eight programs as novel innovations in malaria vector control. The vector control
programme was presented
during the Global Alliance conference
on April 26, 2011.


Seasonality of fouling conditions in
tropical seawater.


Poseidon Sciences announces the collaboration with Selenium, Ltd. (Texas) to develop environmentally friendly biocidal treatment of anaerobic bacteria that cause biofouling in hydraulic fracturing operations. This is updated with additional data on January 25, 2011.


Tara Oceans and Poseidon Sciences collaborates on research on biofouling research on submerged surfaces and on invasive organisms carried in ship hulls.


Poseidon Sciences continuing its R&D work under the new program called the Nereus Project to develop new methods to mitigate damage from oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico using a novel, environmentally friendly material, called Nereid 640. This new method enables the oil complex to disperse and remain suspended with wave action to allow marine bacteria to efficiently degrade the oil. See a laboratory demonstration HERE.

Successful mariculture of seagrape seaweed for food and cosmetic applications in India. New seagrape substrain discovered by Poseidon and SHMRC scientists.


Poseidon Sciences and SHMRC: Marine paint testing on small wooden boats in South India. These wooden boats are used for daily fishing and available for periodic evaluation of the antifouling performance of wood coatings in a tropical setting of continuous fouling.


Poseidon and Tropical Pesticides Research Institute-Tanzania. Collaboration between the two organizations began on malaria biocontrol in temporary pools using annual killifish, which can survive drought by undergoing hibernation as embryos in the dry substrate similar to mosquitoes. This convergent evolution offers a unique opportunity to use annual killifish as a tool in the eradication of the immature stages of mosquitoes in temporary ponds.


Launch of subsea test facility at 30-45 meter depths to evaluate the biofouling in deeper waters. The subsea environment has a different condition of fouling and pressure compared to shallow submergence. Coatings for pipeline and oil rigs require a more rigorous testing to meet these unique conditions.
